Last year was an unsurprisingly big one for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, which means that Visionary Realms is understandably going to feel pretty good about its accomplishments in its year-end retrospective.
As regular readers know, 2024 is the year when the MMORPG fully moved away from its 247 extraction idea and into its pre-alpha “seasons” testing model, a change that not only brought in a positive player response but saw the game grow across multiple updates through the year.
Then, of course, was the year-end biggie: early access, which saw a respectable initial turnout and has continued to germinate a small but loyal community, with a “very positive” user review score on Steam currently and a fairly stable player headcount north of 4000 concurrent on the platform thus far. “We knew our loyal pledgers had been enjoying the game, and we were hopeful we had captured the spirit we envisioned. But would it resonate with a broader audience? We’re overjoyed to say the answer is a big ‘YES!'” the studio remarks.
The look back doesn’t really look forward beyond the promise of “more content, more players, more fun, and creating even more unforgettable memories together,” but considering how the year began and how things are going now, there’s arguably good reason for Pantheon to feel good about its 2024.
