Pantheon Rise of the Fallen hits a new concurrent player high, opens a new server to compensate

While Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen’s early access release might not be for everyone right now, it’s certainly right for a respectable number of MMORPG fans, as this past weekend saw the game hit a new all-time peak of over 6,000 concurrent players on Steam; the rise specifically happened this past Sunday at 5:00 p.m. EST.

The timing appears to suggest that the MMORPG is growing pretty popular among EU players, which lines up with Visionary Realms’ announcement that it had to open a new EU server to accommodate the number of players trying to get in.

On top of managing a rising population of players, which Visionary Realms claimed hit 40K unique players in early access in an interview with VentureBeat, the studio is working on new additions including a “massive” new addition to the game’s world and an upgrade to Unity 6 to help with performance.

In the meantime, the devs are warning players that making “excessive” numbers of characters for the purpose of squatting on names will likely face a character wipe; the studio clarifies that what it considers “legitimate” players such as those who have the same character name on multiple servers will not be impacted. MOP’s Justin offered his first impressions of the game last week, finding it graphically pretty but mechanically rough for an early access MMO.
