Remember back in November when seafaring survival MMO Age of Water announced a launch and then immediately walked it back, saying it was just a technical glitch on Steam? Well, this week’s patch is no glitch, and it does move the game from early access to launch, though if you blink, you’ll miss that part.
The patch itself is called Beyond the Waves and promises kind of a lot of content, from 10 new land combat areas, tier six weapons (with rocket launchers), a new world boss, and quite a bit more.
“The update introduces an entirely new team-based PvP mode, Control Points, where players must work together to capture and defend strategically important locations scattered across the waters. For those seeking even greater challenges, the game now features five dangerous zones, each guarded by formidable bosses of varying difficulty levels. Additionally, exciting stories await you in a new quest line. Your team will also gain a new crew member.”
The launch is almost buried; at the very bottom of the patch notes, it reads, “Soon after the Beyond the Waves launches, we will conclude the Early Access phase and officially release the final version of Age of Water.” Sure enough, Steam now lists the game as a full release.
As we’ve been covering, Three Whales Studio’s Age of Water launched into early access back in April 2024 under the Gaijin Entertainment publishing banner and has been cranking out updates ever since, but its player concurrency, however, is worryingly low. It’s currently on sale for 15 bucks on Steam.
