Dustland is an early access multiplayer PvP shooter set in a hostile and dust storm-riddled world

Are you eager to enter a multiplayer world of danger, monsters, mysteries, and the color brown? Then you’re the kind of person who may find something to like in Dustland, a third-person multiplayer shooter from indie developer RedPad Games that has all of those things in what looks like a blend of Tarkov, Fallout, and early 2000s-era art design.

Dustland is a reimagined take on the survival genre. A world where expeditions, looting, and battles are just the tip of the iceberg, hiding secrets and mysteries of a fallen region in its depths.”

The gameplay loop of Dustland isn’t going to bring many surprises, as players must take on missions, try to survive hostile mutated threats and the occasional powerful dust storm, and get back with some fresh shiny upgrades, all while wondering if other players will be your companions or your killers. The game further promises some more narrative beats that players are encouraged to discover as they find out more about the world and even the faction they’re aligned with.

Dustland has been in early access since last December (though it isn’t specifically flagged as such on its Steam storefront page), while a roadmap promises new items, missions, minibosses, and NPCs over the next three months. That same roadmap also promises “fixes after EA” a couple of times but doesn’t specifically detail when early access will be finished; its official Discord also provides no timetable.

Overall the game is continuing to make several updates, though its Steam user score offers a handful of mixed reviews, with some gamers pointing out how it’s a bit too janky while others admit to seeing its potential.
