The Daily Grind: Which MMO is *least* focused on fashion wars?

I’ve been thinking about this topic ever since Blizzard tweeted a joke about “cursed mogs” in World of Warcraft. Honestly, while vanilla WoW definitely made everyone start in tatters and end in mismatched endgame gear, modern WoW is nothing like that. Farming up old gear to make cool transmog outfits is a whole gameplay style.

So I started thinking about the MMOs that haven’t adapted. I can’t look just at old MMOs; even Ultima Online had a huge array of clothes and dyes in 1997. I can’t look just at games focused on PvP; Albion Online players are meticulous about their cosmetics. I’m having a hard time thinking of any MMORPGs where fashion isn’t a major element of play, which in some ways makes me giggle when I think of all the toxic blowhards playing online dress-up along with the rest of us.

You tell me: Which MMO would you say is the least about fashion wars?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
