The year 2023 has a few more things to take from the MMO industry, apparently: Revelation Online is heading to sunset. MY.GAMES and NetEase made the announcement this morning without explanation.
“After eight years of adventures and quests throughout the realm of Nuanor, our journey has come to an end. Revelation Online will end all services and operations on March 13, 2024. The servers will be closed and the game will no longer be available to play on via MY.GAMES Launcher and Steam on North American and European servers. You can continue playing until the date of closure March 13, 2024. The in-game Store will remain open, but payments will be deactivated effective as of this announcement.”
MMO gamers will recall that Revelation Online soft-launched in the west back in 2017, offering everything from marriage and player housing to a MOBA mode. However, after the title’s first year or two live, updates slowed down significantly. When we peeked in in 2020, we found the game to be reasonable decent for an aging import – just low on population and high on pay-to-win complaints – and unfortunately, updates became only more sparse since then. Our last check-in back in 2022 concluded that the title was effectively in maintenance mode, and now, the remaining players won’t even have that. RIP.
