New World’s Aeternum open beta is almost upon us – yes, even PC players this time. While the official event doesn’t kick off until September 13th at noon EDT, pre-loading has already begun, and it’s easy to get in.

“There are no prerequisites to join,” Amazon says. “Just log in to a supported platform and download the game once it’s available. PC players will be able to download the Open Beta via a banner on the New World Steam Page.” On Steam, you’re looking for this green banner:

As we’ve previously chronicled, this test is meant for PC, PS5, and Xbox X|S players in the Americas, Europe, and the Asia/Pacific regions. Participants can earn cosmetic gear for their main accounts by leveling up through the sub-level-30 content prepared for the event, including PvP arenas, the ol’ Amrine Excavation dungeon, mounts, and influence races.

MOP’s own New World columnist Tyler played Aeternum on PC as part of an Amazon press preview of the open beta earlier this month and actually found it to be a solid update; his only remaining concern is whether the playerbase has been too neglected over the last many months to show up for it.

In other New World news, Amazon has continued releasing new episodes of its Discovering Aeternum video series; the latest duo cover the game’s bad guys and scary locales.
