If there was any doubt about what the new bandwagon in multiplayer gaming is, let the arrival of another upcoming PvPvE extraction game dissolve any illusions. This time around, Gaijin Entertainment subsidiary Matter Team is throwing its hat into the ring with Active Matter, a self-described “mind-bending tactical hardcore shooter set in a fractured multiverse.”
“You’re an operative stuck in a time loop, always brought back from the dead to the same point. Choose your loadout and enter quantum unstable zones rich with active matter — a substance capable of warping and ripping the very fabric of space and time.”
Going by the game’s website and reveal trailer, this one looks like a blend of Escape from Tarkov and Into the Radius: Players will come together to raid the aforementioned quantum zones, dealing with other player teams, ethereal creatures, and anomalies that warp gravity, all in an effort to scoot with the loot alive. The game also lauds its realistic weapons and gear and intense PvP battles.
The FPS is eyeing a release sometime next year, but before then, interested players can sign up for a closed beta test that’s planned for the end of this year, though players will need to have Gaijin accounts to toss their names into the draw. Otherwise the game will arrive to consoles and PC via Gaijin’s own store or Steam.
