More leaks confirm that Blizzard is working on a Warcraft II: Remastered edition

While Blizzard fans spend the next week wondering what the studio will say or reveal of its plans for the Warcraft franchise, one leak perhaps is stealing some of the thunder. Multiple outlets are reporting that Blizzard is working on a Warcraft II: Remastered edition in the same vein as the tragically overhauled Warcraft III: Reforged it put out a while back.

Images, logos, and seeming confirmation of an alpha test from the studio itself show that Blizzard is planning to take its popular RTS for another tour of duty. Warcraft II came out in 1995 (with an expansion a year later) and was a massive hit for the studio, selling over 3M units by 2001.

Not only does the nostalgia-fueled cash grab make sense for Blizzard, but next year marks Warcraft II’s 30th anniversary. We’ll hope to hear the full announcement of Warcraft II: Remastered as well as future plans for World of Warcraft when Blizzard holds its anniversary livestream next Wednesday.
