Given all the layoffs at Cryptic this fall as its MMORPGs transition to Deca Games, you might be wondering what’s next for said MMORPGs. Well, we’ve got some good news for the Neverwinter fans: It’s launching its next module and season on all platforms beginning November 19th. As Above, So Below – Return to Pirates’ Skyhold is the game’s 30th module since launch.
“The upcoming major update for the free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons MMORPG will have adventurers journey back in time and embark on new quests in the home of the most daunting pirates, the Pirates’ Skyhold – an Adventure Zone originally introduced when Neverwinter launched in 2013,” Arc Games says. (Arc is still publishing the game for Embracer.) In addition to the revamped Pirates’ Skyhold, there’s an overhauled dungeon with three difficulty tiers, a guild management update, an update for companions, and power set quick-swapping.
“With the surprise return of the Pirates’ Skyhold filled with sky-faring pirates, adventurers will join a trusty crew and discover the zone has been completely revamped and improved, bringing epic challenges and a multitude of secrets to uncover! In addition to bringing back a beloved Adventure Zone, the module will also introduce an unvaulted and improved dungeon, The Dread Vault which has transformed into The Dread Sanctum, brand new Heroic Encounters, Named Encounters and Quest Encounters, new rewards, along with quality-of-life improvements.”
Arc also drops a comforting teaser at the end of the press release, telling Neverwinter players that Deca (we assume, though Arc doesn’t actually say that) is working on two more modules to a new region, set to be revealed next year.
“The next two modules for Neverwinter are also already in development, and they will take adventurers on thrilling quests across a mysterious and wondrous region that has yet to be explored in east Faerûn,” the company says. “More details on the next two modules will be shared next year.”
