It’s not an MMORPG, but it will certainly scratch any itch for a multiplayer open world game you’ve got: It’s Towers of Aghasba, and it’s officially launched into early access as of this afternoon.

“Dreamlit Games just launched their debut title, Towers of Aghasba, into Early Access on Steam and PlayStation 5. Inspired by the art and fantasy worlds of Studio Ghibli films, along with the cozy island life of Animal Crossing, this gorgeous adventure marries open-world exploration with player creativity. Players will experience a rich story as they transform withered lands into vibrant ecosystems, befriending majestic creatures, and designing a thriving island community in balance with nature.”

Content at launch includes six regions, climbing, gliding, mounts, “leisure activities” like fishing, three settlement types, three ecosystem types, 50 unique creatures, 150 craftable deco items, and both singleplayer and multiplayer – it’s co-op for up to four people.

As we’ve been covering, the game’s roadmap stretches all the way into 2026 with more content, offline play, character customization, a new biome, and more goodies.

Do note this is not a free-to-play title; it’s 30 bucks on PlayStation and Steam right now. And we have to warn you that as we type this, the game is already seeing “mostly negative” reviews on Steam, with early buyers saying they’re seeking refunds over janky gameplay, bugs, and crashes. So if you do have that itch… maybe put some steroid cream on it and wait a few days while this shakes out, eh?
