Guild Wars 2 kicks off the Evon Gnashblade promo, adds more regional hair and faces

Guild Wars 2’s late-night patches are usually just bug fixes, so I usually don’t pay too much attention to them, but last night’s actually included several problems introduced in Godspawn – and even added something players have been asking for.

In addition to tweaking the new convergence fight (the lava bug, the Decima attack bug, and a bunch of problems with turrets), the team fixed the issue with Trial and Error awarding Secrets of the Obscure mastery instead of Janthir Wilds mastery. But the most interesting bit is at the end of the patch notes:

“Added all faces and hair styles exclusive to the China client into the NAEU client and vice versa.”

We snooped around this morning and are having a hard time sorting out which ones are new (how often do you look at the current batch of faces?). But we couldn’t figure it out; the one hair that looked new to me has been on the wiki for years, so apparently I am wrong. Maybe it’s the high ponytail? Redditors seem to think these cosmetic features actually went in unannounced last week and the note is late. Still, the buzz over the note should be a big flashing reminder that people really want ArenaNet to add more faces and hair!

One bug that was still plaguing the game as of this morning: the endless swarm of in-game mails advertising Evon Gnashblade’s birthday bash. Somebody shut that spammer up, will ya? But the event itself is worth noting, as it allows players to exchange resources for specific rewards, in addition to the cash shop sales.

“Evon Gnashblade is celebrating his ‘birthday’ with deals you won’t want to miss! To participate, head to Lion’s Arch and check out the newly renovated Vaults. From November 25 until December 2, a brand-new vendor will be available to trade select materials for limited Black Lion rewards. Evon is slashing prices by 30% on Black Lion Chest Keys until December 2, so make sure you celebrate his ‘birthday’ with savings!”
