Today marks the start of Riders of Icarus’ head start, provided that you were one of the players who bought into it. For the rest of us, we’ll have to wait until next week’s July 6th open beta release. Either way, it looks like it’s going to be an exciting time for the game as the team prepares a host of improvements and features for the near future.
In a new developer diary, the list of content planned for Riders of Icarus stretches as far as the eye can see, with some of it scheduled for the start of open beta and the rest planned for just beyond that. The list includes raising the level cap to 35, adding more mounts to tame, introducing a PvP battlefield, giving familiars the chance to race, and bringing in new zones such as the snowy Parna’s Coast and the underground Cavern of the Veil.
Nexon said that it’s paying close attention to how it’s developing the game’s business model. Players in the open beta can take advantage of achievements to earn a chunk of premium currency. “Our primary goal with this release is to allow players to enjoy the core game without spending money, and to provide a satisfying experience when players chose to spend,” the studio said.
We took a look at the game earlier this week on stream and aim to do it again tonight, this time focusing on the cash shop.
