The Daily Grind: Are you a fan of underwater combat in MMORPGs?

I can't help but feel like I've been here before.

Earlier this week, MOP’s Andrew Ross mentioned in his writeup of Guild Wars 2’s Out of the Shadows episode that he was disappointed that the revamped Raid on the Capricorn — now called Revenge of the Capricorn — would not return to its roots with underwater content, and that disappointment was a result of his love for GW2’s waterbound content.

Here’s the thing for me: I think Guild Wars 2 has hands down the best underwater combat and content in the entirety of the history of MMORPGs. I just don’t actually like it. Being underwater in video games creeps me out a bit, and dealing with extra axes of movement during combat adds an extra layer of stress. On the other hand, I have so much nostalgia for the early GW2 when underwater content was still a big deal there, so in a weird way, I sort of miss it. Now, the game has shifted more to aerial movement.

How about you? Are you a fan of underwater combat in MMORPGs? Does any game do it better than GW2?
