Crowfall reaches its graphics programmer stretch goal

Like many big crowdfunded projects, Crowfall didn’t stop reaching for stretch goals just because the game’s main Kickstarter project ended. The project has hit its first post-Kickstarter stretch goal this week, so the team will be hiring a dedicated graphics programmer to make the game extra-flashy and satisfying to play.

Players will also be able to take advantage of backer badges on the game’s official forums from this point onward, with different designs available for those who pledged during the Kickstarter campaign and those who jumped on board afterward. The next stretch goal for the title is localization in several languages, and after that… well, there’s a video just below that outlines what comes next.

_Ariel_ “why should I be bothered”
In short, you shouldn’t. It’s pretty darned clear that you’ve closed your mind off to anything but your much loved GTA, and nobody is going be able to convince you otherwise.

My coffee-less, early-morning brain read this and sarcastically though, “Great – now the game gets to have graphics!”

In other news, I’m really sorry for having shared that with you. There’s really no excuse.

GTA is  mmo all of the sudden, okay. I would right you off as a guy who really knows nothing about gaming if you put them in the same genre just because they got “open worlds”, don’t copy massilvely headlines blindly it makes you look dumb.

Bannex19 Some could say the same about Pac-Man, and it would hold the same value without hyperbole. Each it’s own…

_Ariel_ There’s no helping you. You don’t understand what a genre is and seem to be under the impression that if a game shares a similar design style that it’s similar to any others that share that.

You’re here unwilling to accept anybody’s comment and constantly fighting back.

If you can’t see how GTA is different from an MMO then you can not be helped. Go play GTA if it’s what you like.

_Ariel_ …Minecraft is a sandbox. So is GTA. I’d argue the games are VERY different.

Just because they share a theme doesn’t put them in the same market.

Sandbox isn’t a genre. You can have a FPS sandbox, MMO sandbox, RTS sandbox etc.

CrowingOne Reihen How is that over simplified? He’s explaining why they have such a big marketing push with little to show for it.

There’s nothing being simplified there, it’s how they need to run things in order to get more funding. Keep in mind the game isn’t in alpha, it’s in early development. There’s not much to show.

GTA 5 may be the single best game for the money ever launched in the history of the human race. I mean that very literal with no hyperbole.

They seem to be taking tips for stretch goals from CU. Hopefully the project moves forward intelligently instead of risking delay of launch with promises they may not be able to keep.
