Destiny’s House of Wolves launches today. Bungie’s second expansion offers new story missions, a new cooperative strike called The Shadow Thief, and new endgame components including PvE (Prison of Elders), PvP (Trials of Osiris), and a crucible revamp complete with new modes and rewards.

Bungie has also added a lot of new weapons and gear upgrades, and House of Wolves makes a few changes to the sci-fi shooter’s upgrade and reward systems.

Sinaptic TierlessTime Er, that’s complete rubbish. I have an AMD Radeon R9 270 card and the Witcher 3 runs just fine at 60+ fps on high.

I want to like destiny. The game dramatically improves on Mars. It’s visually impressive and the controls and feel are great. It’s very short on story, and that’s a shame. The hover ball spouting exposition just doesn’t cut it and as you progress the stronger factions are further from Earth. And thus make the entire last city on earth story seem stupid. Why is earth so dangerous if I can one shot pretty much every baddie there.
Also how big a deal can this darkness really be if multiple other factions are all running around like there is no darkness.
The plot blows. The game is fun for about 20 hours..thirty with friends then your realize it’s a less compelling borderlands 2.

Estranged My main gripe with Destiny is the lack of essential mmo features that should have been in there.  There is no trading (along with a lack of an auction house), there is no dungeon finder for later challenges, there is no dueling friends, being able to connect with more than 15 players at a time (Shouldn’t qualify as massive because 15 is no where near massive), no keyboard communication, lack of emoticons (all you can do is wave, point, dance, and sit) large diversity between the classes, etc.  In short, it is lacking a lot of features that support and induce social activity between players.

Then to top it off, they cut out content that was on the original disc they sold you and attempt to sell it later on as DLC instead of allowing you to access the finished product you had already paid for.  The game itself felt far from complete on launch, in my opinion.

I’d be willing to give it another shot, because as a concept I liked it.  They would just need to make a lot of alterations, in terms of social interaction, to the current state of the game and offer some goodwill to convince me to give them another shot.

I cant put my finger on why exactly it isnt sticking with me. The story being incredibly flat has alot to do with it. I don’t expect a game like this to have a ton of story but what little it does have should include some “Oh shit!” moments. I’m nearly done with the main story and have yet to experience an “oh shit!” moment. The game is just shallow all around. I don’t feel like collecting loot like pokemon because Bungie hasn’t realized that vertical progression gear treadmills should be buried in the past with games like WoW. The multiplayer aspects of Destiny are fun but it rewards those who did the most grinding more than those with the most skill. Skill should count for far more than it does in this game. It’s a shooter. I like the core game as far as the controls, combat, graphics, and sound go, but everything else feels like a resounding “meh” to me. I’m not hating on it though so you don’t have to defend yourself for liking it.

TierlessTime
well since it is a nvidia gameworks game – unless you have at gtx 900 card you can forget about the witcher playing well or at all.
Hell not only did nvidia bork the code for amd to run like crap they did it to thier 700 series cards as well to force people to buy new ones.
Same goes for Project Cars.
Really shitty of them – So I wont buy either game and I have a nvidia gpu.

I ended up picking up an xbone. Got this game, dying light, and master chief collection. Having a lot of fun. Destiny does a lot of things wrong but it is a blast with friends.

Estranged Well I mean, I like the idea of the game. But my out of my group of friends, we’re already too burnt out on Borderlands’ shoot and loot gameplay that we just were completely turned off by Destiny.

Estranged You are trying way too hard to white knight this game.  The game has no story.  In a cutscene in the game an NPC literally tells you “I could tell you about *Insert this and that*, but I won’t”.  The story is you are led around by a floating ball that never shuts up about random things that has nothing to do about the game other than “Look out!”.  The Dev’s even created a place on their website where you can go to read the story because they half a$$ed the game and never put one in it.  Now I’m sure they might have added a story in with this expansion, but they should be begging us to play this expansion for free after the hype and buzz they started on this game and didn’t even deliver a 1/4 of what they had promised.  The game is garbage and deserves all the negativity it gets.
