Project Gorgon unveils musical stretch goals

This is a cow song.

The Project Gorgon Kickstarter is humming along nicely this time around, and the developers have already passed the $25,000 stretch goal. So what’s next on the agenda? Music! Two new stretch goals have been added for the $35,000 and $40,000 targets, and both of them should produce a sound soothing to the ears.

At $35,000, developers will expand what can be done with the various instruments already slated for the game, adding in new musical loops, a seventh instrument, and even animal forms getting in on the action. Meanwhile, at $40,000 the game is going to add in the Bard skill line, which can be combined with other skills to make a character well-versed in buffs or crowd control as desired.

tilles87 Sorenthaz That’s definitely not a bad thing.

Sorenthaz Skyewauker Get out of here with that.  They want to make money which = the most amount of players possible.  I seriously doubt they wake up in the morning and say “Lets only cater and get X amount of players when we can get X  x 300% more players”.  That’s absurd.

Sorenthaz Bard skill was already planned. There’s already a skill that’s needed for that. I’m sure it will be there later, if they can’t reach the stretch goals. The developers seem to be obsessed with adding stuff to the game.

Sorenthaz JonBuck This is the game where players milk players, instead of developers milking players.

Omedon  I mean I’d hope that these stretch goals are sort of like “things we plan on doing that can come out sooner with your extra funds”.  Would seem really odd for a game like this to not do that.

Sorenthaz That’s always been my issue with games and stretch goals tied to features.
“Um, you… just said that you have plans to do this awesome thing… So… I think you should… do it… before I spend money on you.”

I know that’s counter-intuitive to crowdfunding, but… I mean… you either can make the whole game or you can’t.  If you can’t, I’m not investing.  If that means it doesn’t get made… than it wasn’t meant to be.

That may seem harsh, and I’m not hating on Project Gorgon, but for the one remaining game I have KS’ed… I gave them a reasonable “cost of game” donation.  For that, I expect a whole game, or it to fold, in which case  expect no game, and I lose the low end gamble.  Stretch goals didn’t influence my donation at all.

Zo5o I feel graphics stuffes can be improved later on, but creative design framework must go in from the start and nigh impossible to retrofit in.

Wiexlon Aywren I’ve honestly just been trying out a little of everything at this point to see what kind of skills I can discover. Swordsmanship and archery are my highest skills, but I just unlocked animal taming, and was playing around with that last night. I haven’t seen if there’s an overall skill cap that prevents you from learning all the skills on one character – if there is, I’m not aware of it. So, I’ve been experimenting.

I’m curious about leveling the Cow skill and possibly becoming a werewolf! :)

JonBuck Sorenthaz  Well you can, but words are replaced with animal noises from what it sounds like.  Supposedly there’s a Beast Speech skill that gradually improves as you talk while in beast form, and raising it will improve your ability to speak with other players while you’re a cow/pig/whatever.
