Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns has a bevy of rewards in store for PvP

Don’t fret your sweaty heads, PvPers — ArenaNet has not forgotten you. In fact, the studio is throwing you all sorts of incentives to fight other players in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns with new and upgraded reward tracks.

Heart of Thorns will contain a reward track for the new mist champions along with reward tracks that will parallel PvP ranks. Finishers, lockbox keys, and minis are but some of the goodies in store for those who top out their tracks.

In fact, one of the rewards will be necessary if you’re pursuing your legendary: “Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will introduce shards of glory, a new tradable crafting material obtained through PvP. Because shards of glory are going to be a part of legendary crafting, we’re updating all reward tracks with them.”

Kalamari DugFromTheEarth If i actually cared enough to go digging through piles of community discussions from WvW players wanting WvW to be a more full fledged experience and people from anet responding and stressing the fact that WvW wasnt meant to be anything more than just a side activity and not a full game mode… that gw2 was built around pve being the main core of the game…

,.. but alas… I dont care enough.

rgkeydet Radfist ReginaldAtkins alexjwillis MatthewRiddle  Fair enough, was mostly curious as to what it was. I skipped most of season one to be honest. I found it really dull. Glad I returned for season two though, was much better. There hasn’t been any recent crossover since then as far as I am aware.

That said, if you ever have the opportunity to check them out, I would highly encourage you to give season 2 a try. Its a night and day difference from those early episodes and they have some fun and interesting tie ins to the orginial guild wars story.

rgkeydet Radfist ReginaldAtkins alexjwillis MatthewRiddle yep that was the update. Honestly I loved GW2 way back when… was a MAJOR GW1 player, hit 30 points in the hall of monuments the day they released it. was in the GW2 beta, bought two GW2 collectors editions (one for me, one for the wife)… and so on.
no game is perfect at launch so I expected changes, but they were making changes that I wasn’t *super* happy with but “It’s GW2 so it’s ok…”, then that living story episode hit… I’ll be blunt. I hate PVP, I got my 100% world completion by timing PVP zone exploration to sever low population times and went into the PVP zones when I was pretty certain they’d be empty around times when my area / server had control so I never even had to lift the weapon. By the time that living story episode hit I had about…. every class at max level, and several other things. I figured…  “eh it’s 2 weeks, I’ll just come back in 2 weeks.”
Around that time my friend who stuck with FF14 was telling me ARR was the game we’d hope it would be at launch. ( was in the beta for and bought two collectors editions of that too). Since the main thing I was doing in GW2 was living story and was going to take a 2 week break, why not check out ARR…
The rest as they say is history. so @kalamari it’s less “looking for an excuse to quit” and more of unexpectedly finding a game that fit how I want to play, all because content I wasn’t too pleased about convinced me to take a break.

Radfist ReginaldAtkins alexjwillis MatthewRiddle I don’t remember the name of the update, but I believe there was a living world episode that came out where we had to fight aetherblade pirates that were causing trouble in WvW. It happened around around the time they introduced the Edge of the Mist map and was mainly designed to encourage players to play in the new zone

Nice to see some more attention given to PvP players. Like the fact that BLK will now be available, if only as a one time reward.

Sylzer Siphaed “They also said in January that defending will be more important.Adding new guild claiming system makes it more important to WvW?”
no. but the new wvw guild missions do.

Radfist ReginaldAtkins alexjwillis MatthewRiddle they didn’t put many things in it. some event decorations and some christmas presents. and the new overflow wvw map (that don’t count for the points!) had a living story introduction and some “pve achievements”. everybody who says, he quit wvw/pvp because of  those things is stupid and is just looking for a excuse why he quit the game.

DugFromTheEarth “Anet has said numerous times that GW2 is a PVE game. WvW and PvP are
just “side activities” that will never be treated as their own, stand
alone game mode, unlike PvE, which was designed to stand completely on
its own.”
uhm no. just no. show me were they said that “numerous times”.
