Ghost in the Shell Online adds a new operative, a new map, and new guns

Well, I mean... all right.

There’s a new operative in town for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – First Assault Online (or just Ghost in the Shell Online if you’re into the whole brevity thing). The latest update to the early access shooter brings Maven into the playable character roster. Maven can deploy barriers to prevent enemies from seeing what’s on the other side, although the barriers can be destroyed.

The update also adds a new deathmatch map, the Port, which serves as a smaller skirmish area for teams to face off. Several new weapons are also added as well, along with the first iteration of the Ghost Screen to display your post-battle performance. It’s a pretty substantial update to the game, and the future promises further improvements and newer maps for players.

Right now this game suffers from low player population (among all other mentioned issues).  I’d wait until the pay wall goes down to play.

tried playing this when I first got into the beta a few weeks back…. sat in a lobby for 15 min waiting for a game to pop.

It could be very fun if I ever got to play…

DPandaren Dystopiq if anything, “the entire series” is a dumb-ed down version of TnA (and story) compared to the original manga (that features, for example, an hardcore lesbian orgy that turns out to be a VR test of new tactile membrane cyber-upgrades. Yes, that’s the excuse for having those first pages so detailed and in full color, compared to b/w of the rest of the tables. Volume2, if iirc).  Shirow has a distinctive art style in his works – it’s only natural that whatever is inspired/licensed follows.

Dystopiq That’s kind of always been GitS’s thing though. I mean, there’s a dumb amount of TnA in the entire series.

I may have been loose with my words, but I’m not implying the devs are just one homogenous group that fixes one piece of the game at a time. By “Made space for an NX system” I really meant, “Made space to push for an NX system this early”, as I personally think, that’s low on the list in terms of priority – considering there’s ONE item to buy with NX.

Also, I never said anything about “halting progress” or getting the creative team to work on engineering…you’re reaching a bit there.
The whole point is – they are in Early Access. Appearance to be actively working on fixing your game is at it’s highest level. If you appear to be adding content with such little mention of working on bug fixes (or making the game worse for some after a content update), then you will start to lose that Early Access shine and people will turn off sooner rather than later.

Kenny_ Of course they released a NX transaction system, they were planning to do that the entire time. You don’t just pull all those engineers off to fix bugs that are unrelated to what they’re tasked to do.

Expecting a company to halt all progress on systems or content to fix a bug is completely insane and proves you don’t actually understand how development works.

Unfortunately it’s still very much a mess in game. An FPS with wonky hit-registration doesn’t really leave much room for feedback on an early access game.

After much response from the CM leading up to the patch with comments about bug fixes being a big thing they were looking at…there were 6 listed ‘bug fixes’, and in some cases the patch has made it worse, which makes it harder to give proper feedback. Hell, even one of the bug fixes wasn’t even fixed.
Yet….they made space for an NX Transaction system, and for Maven – a class you can buy with said NX.

I’m not gonna lie, future looks grim if things are gonna go this way. Especially with other shooters out there that are so much better designed.

The design screams “look at my tits. Buy me.”. Just spit all over my favorite anime SF series.
