Star Trek Online captains who are feeling the pinch of being denied exploring those final frontiers might soon have a reason to rev up the warp engines. In an interview with Priority One Podcast, Cryptic confirmed that creating a new exploration system is high up on its priority list, although bringing it to the live server might take time.

Along with season 11.5 coming out next month, Star Trek Online has plenty coming down the pipeline, including the game’s third expansion (and, apparently, expansions four and five are being planned as well). The team hinted at a big announcement coming on May 5th and some sort of event or events for Star Trek’s 50th anniversary.

Other podcast discussion topics included a queue rotation, an overhaul of accolades, and new KDF missions. The devs even floated the idea of new playable factions, hinting at Cardassians, Borg, or Jem’Hadar as being possibilities.
