The Division’s Falcon Lost Incursion has a glitch, and players will be punished for exploiting it

It's beginning to look a lot like QA should have been called earlier.

There are going to be glitches when dealing with something as immense and complex as an online game. It’s nearly inevitable. Things will not be properly reflected in tooltips, clipping will go wrong, players will fall through the world, a boss in a major bit of content can be exploited for a trivially easy win. That last one has hit The Division in the Falcon Lost incursion, but players can rest assured that players who knowingly exploited the glitch will be punished.

No details of said punishment have yet been released, although it seems likely that temporary bans will be the route chosen.  There’s even footage of a community manager clearing the boss on a stream with a player accused by other community members of exploiting the glitch. Keep your eyes open for more information as Ubisoft decides how to deal with the players who managed to pick up rewards far more easily than intended.

A Dad Supreme No joke, I rarely log into the PC version of The Division unless I’m with my friends to play because the amount of ass hattery that’s going on it’s out of control.

deekay_zero That’s just Reddit though. When Guild Wars 2 released and had the whole issue with gold inflation because of cheap crafted exotics and exotics to buy off vendors to mystic toilet, Reddit was all, “LETS DO THISSSSSS,” and just fucked over the game’s economy for the first couple of months.

Damonvile Pretty much, temp ban doesn’t mean shit if you don’t also remove the gear.

Damonvile BalsBigBrother Hounddog74 Kalamari Gibbins I have just spent the last 2 hours or so in the DZ,  saw 4 live players and had a fun running battle with two of them which I lost fairly and squarely as far as I can tell.   Granted its a Monday evening / night time for me right now so its not exactly the busiest time and I am not saying I have never seen someone cheating but its still possible to find some fun in here :-)

DugFromTheEarth I saw that coming and decided against buying the game even though I loved the beta. People call me a pessimist, that I need to have a lighter view of people etc and yet time after time I’m proven right.

Wandris Gibbins Well they did take over the EU servers for EQ until the players rebelled and got so uptight about it that, with the active support of Ubisoft’s Lead GM as I recall, SOE took them back again. To be honest, they don’t have a great reputation for running anything, MMO or otherwise. As you rightly say, this is their opportunity to step up to the line and prove their critics wrong.

LFG glitch FL CM.  Do it enough, they will fix it, that is currently the only way they will fix something.  This glitch has been around for a long time now and the lazy programming.  They even disabled the weekly but they coded it by using the user’s system clock instead of server side.  So lazy programming.  Lazy lazy.  And challenge mode 3x the same for three days.  Lazy lazy.  This is a wakeup call for them  and enjoy the exploits.

End of the day, its their lazy programming that did them in.

Dont confuse “lack of experience with anti cheat” with poor planning and development or design decisions.

For example, I worked for a computer selling online products. As we were designing their checkout system, we brought up the need for security, and it was dismissed by the big wigs who said “Oh, we wont need to worry about that”. A month later, the site had all sorts sql injections happening, along with other things. And none of it was because the developers had lack of experience with proper security measures. We simply were told not to worry about it.

Exploiting in this game is so out of control.

Players advertise openly in chat:

“LFG exploit group FL”

and similar.

There is no fear. There is no sense of “maybe I shouldnt do this”. Way too many players view this as some sort of amazon 50% off flash sale, where they need to act quick to get as much from the deal as they can before it goes away.

Its ruined the current state of the game. Ubisoft may as well have just handed players the highest level gear in the game to at least put everyone on an equal playing field now. Dont even bother trying to go into the darkzone unless you like being killed in 3 shots (1 shot if there are hackers). Oh, and thank you Ubisoft, for making the weekly quests require random Darkzone tasks during this time of exploitation upheaval.

What a way to let a game go to waste.

BalsBigBrother Hounddog74 Kalamari Gibbins I never cheat in games, but this is the first game in a long time that other people cheating is really killing my fun.

The DZ makes it really hard to enjoy when so many people are doing things that are cheating, and have a direct impact on you. I don’t mind getting killed… I just F’ing hate seeing the teleporting 99 dropping a team of 4 before you even know what direction he’s in.

A few weeks ago, I didn’t even know there was a problem. Now almost every night I sit looking at my dead body wondering why I’m still playing.
