Fragmented patches in better optimization and more skill points

Skillful!

Early access is the perfect time to start optimizing your game’s client after internal testing; you finally have access to computers that aren’t dedicated test machines from the early access buyers, after all. Fragmented dropped exactly that sort of patch to the newly accessible game, with the primary focus of fixing some latency and network issues that could negatively impact the game.

The patch also adds in more skill points per level, includes a skill respec function, and a new skill point configuration for hosted servers. Progression overall has gotten a little bit smoother, and there’s a general sense of quality of life improvements. If you’ve already been enjoying the spin-off, this should help make it more fun to play, and if you wanted to enjoy it but were stuck with network issues those may have been fixed now.

Syco_at_Twitch Pepperzine It’s not a secret. The developers have stated that they will likely have a playable build for Repop late this year. Their concept is that developing the world and the mechanics in Fragmented is that it will help them learn their way around Unreal. Also, a lot of the assets build for Fragmented will find their way into The Repopulation. Repop will be a lot deeper and more complex than Fragmented, so the devs need to cut their teeth on something. Don’t forget, these guys have been working in Hero for the better part of a decade. Switching to Unreal and getting a playable build up is obviously not something they can do in the fly. But I’m looking forward to it too and I have been since 2012.

Pepperzine I heard from  someone who was in the know in the company said that repop wouldn’t see testing till near the end of the year

agemyth I like the environment.  It’s a refreshing change.  Considering they literally threw this together I’m impressed.  Personally, I’m having fun with it.

The only thing that sets this game apart from all the other survival games is the Repopulation assets. Otherwise it is way behind the curve compared to the competition. They have their hopes set on 6-12 month development cycle (I think) before leaving Early Access and that seems like a really short time for a small team on a shoestring budget to do much more than fix bugs.
More power to them if they can pull it off of course. I just want The Repopulation, so if this helps that effort I’m fine waiting a bit.

Yeah, I personally enjoy survival games, but it’s not really what I’m looking for out of this project. I hope it gets them more funding as well but after I played it I’m a little bit skeptical of how much it will actually equate to in comparison to the effort being put into it.
Either way, I appreciate them attempting to give us something to hold us over. Fingers crossed for more news relating to the base game soon.

Pepperzine Yeah, I tried to play Fragmented, but not really my thing. I played enough ARK to last me forever. I’m hoping to hear more about Repop too. That’s what I’m waiting for. Do hope Fragmented brings them cash though!

Hoping to hear more about the state of the repopulation soon considering that is what I backed.

It’s a great game but really buggy with  glitches to the point of where if you’re on a pvp server  it’s spoul crushing when you lose all your shit due to a game glitch. Makes it hard to stream it so im gonna come back at end of May

I’m happy to watch and see this thing turn into something more while I wait for the main game to come back. It’s in a super rudimentary state right now, but I like what they’ve started with. I’ve played a few hours of it so far now and am really glad they gave this out to those of us who purchased Repopulation. It was a nice gesture.
