Star Citizen’s Around on Verse on 2.4, animations, events, and shopping

Star Citizen’s Around the Verse this week sees the return of Ben Lesnick just in time for the 2.4 patch to land on the public test server and drop its NDA. Of note is the check-in from Austin producer Jake Ross, who discusses the updated 2.4 weapon animations in 2.4, shopping experience, temporary events, and more shopping stuff:

“Lastly, and looking ahead to future releases, we’re looking at some more shops. Not for ArcCorp and not for Port Olisar but for a new space station that will be sort of a pirate based space station. So this space station will be more for the outlaws and things like that. But even outlaws like to buy things so we have shops there in the works for this new station. And it will have different shops that’ll be able to sell different things. You’ll probably see some more outlaw armour types, and some pirate clothing, and more weapons, and things like that. So we’re trying to get you guys to travel to different areas and give you incentives to go hang out at different places and we’ll have a wide variety of things in the PU so the first steps is getting shoping out to you guys, first release, and then after that we’ll look to put even more content out there to get you guys flying around the ‘verse.”

There’s also a lore piece on the Tamsa system and black holes, plus a tease for the second part of the piping system. Watch the whole show down below.

Bluetouchpaper GoJammit 19, yes. 18, not outrageous. But that would be dependant on what I see at SQ 42 launch, and how far along the alpha is.

GoJammit Bluetouchpaper So you wouldn’t rule out it being in 2018 or 2019 altogether ?

You’re wasting your time, people like this are closed to anything but their own view on the matter, no matter how many facts you present.
Some will even claim the facts presented are just lies, or at the very least a misrepresentation of the real time, created to fool us fans and backers into giving more money to something that we will never see, or which will take years if not decades more to complete.
And anyone who disagrees with or contradicts them are blind and fanatical fanboys who refuse to accept the truth they claim to present.

Tell you what, if you think we will still be debating this in 3 years, why don’t you come back in 3 years and then we will see if we still are debating this.
If we are then I’ll be willing to debate it.
If we re not, will you be willing to admit you were mistaken and that we actually do know better?

Bluetouchpaper GoJammit Again, and I don’t know why this is so hard to fathom, I don’t have any projection beyond what CIG is putting out. They say late this year early next year for SQ42. Since we have seen next to nothing of SQ42 beyond a walk through of the opening of the game and the knowledge that they have gotten so far along in the missions. I would have nothing to go on but their word and uneducated guesses.
I can tell you what I hope for. I hope it’s late this year. If I’m being realistic, it will probably wind up being first have of next year. They’ve been very quiet on how they are even going to go about testing. They don’t want to spoil the game for the public, but I don’t really know how you test publicly and do that. They can go the NDA route, which they have only recently started using with the…envocati(sp?)
As for SC, I’d like to be beta testingSummer or fall of next year with another winter release. But that’s me guessing. I’d be able to think harder on that seeing what is ready at the time of SQ42 release. I don’t know what they are going to consdider beta testing. Are they not going to count beta until all the systems are in place or with it me more of, they have the mechanics in place  but the systems are not ready, but they will just continue to add them as  the testing progresses. How many systems will they launch with? That’s an important factor too.

Bluetouchpaper There is a time  scale. Are they supposed to update you on the time scale every time there is an update?

Another day another bit of news about Star Citizens development with no hint of a time scale .

I have a feeling we might be still debating this in 3 years time when its still not released and the same fanboys who seem to dominate these forums when it comes to this game will still be defending it .

Or maybe even they will see sense by that point . But I doubt it .

Every time Star Citizen releases a new version of software I can hear Obi-Wan Kenobi say, “I felt a great presence in stupidity, as if millions of trolls suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.”
