Out of Reach is the robust survival sandbox you’ve been overlooking

Has the market reached the point of survival sandbox saturation yet? Several games are hoping that there’s still raging demand out there, including Out of Reach.

If you haven’t heard of this game, just know that Out of Reach has been going strong in Steam early access for the better part of a year now. This survival game puts players in the role of castaways who wash up on the shore of an island and have to decide whether to make that island home or to explore elsewhere in the archipelago. There’s the usual list of bullet-point features: survival elements, crafting, player alliances, base-building, and smashing the local wildlife with clubs.

It’s been patching in new content like crazy, too. The more recent additions saw pirates, improved AI, better water physics, additional animals, and the ability to dive come into the game.

Out of Reach is currently half-off through July 4th for Steam’s summer sale. The game also just dropped a new high-definition trailer for 2016, which you can watch after the break.
