EVE Online’s latest tool lets you simulate ship builds

One of the new tools that EVE Online has handed to new and experienced players with this week’s Ascension expansion is simply called the Fitting Simulation.

Don’t misread that as “fighting;” the Fitting Simulation is a rather peaceful feature that allows players to try out and preview all manner of ship builds without having to drop tons of money on them first. This should head off that nasty space monster called regret.

CCP explains how this tool will help players: “You can then fit those hulls with simulated modules and see how certain stats, such as velocity, signature radius, and damage output, change as you activate and overheat your weapons, boosters, microwarpdrive, or damage repair modules. This allows you to experiment on your fit and you’ll be able find out before you buy all the modules and ship for your dream fit that you are actually 1% short on CPU.”
