Massively OP’s end-of-the-year awards continue today with our blooper award for Most-Covered Defunct MMO, as proposed by BryanCo. And the winner is…

Star Wars Galaxies

Although City of Heroes comes really close! We’re joking a bit here, but there’s a reason these games keep coming up whenever veteran MMORPG players are discussing the history and impact and features of the genre, and it’s not nostalgia or rose-tinted glasses: It’s that these two games left a massive footprint with boots that modern MMOs still haven’t fully filled. Let’s not forget them — and let’s not let the devs forget them either even if they’d like to not be reminded of the genre’s once-lofty ambitions — especially as we’ve just passed the fifth anniversary of SWG’s death. /salute
