Path of Exile streamlines its microtransaction system

Pathing.
You get a lot of stuff for free in Path of Exile. If not for the fact that the game appears to still be a financial success, it could be argued that it might even be too much for free. For those of you who have dropped some money on the game’s microtransactions, though, the latest update is all about making your life a bit easier with a new inventory and equipment slots for microtransaction items, so you should have a much easier time swapping and sorting your various cosmetic effects.

Players who aren’t into cosmetic effects can also take advantage of this weekend’s stash tab sale, offering discounts on every different type of stash tab to make storage that much easier. Players can also still grab purple footsteps, portals, and weapon effects by signing up for Twitch Prime. You can check out the new microtransaction system and the Twitch Prime cosmetics in the videos just below.

So I redownloaded it for the sake of the Twitch bonuses, and my characters that I made ALL the way back in like… 2011? 2012? I don’t even know… but sometime back when it was still in beta. Somehow I have my old newbie characters still to play on.

I don’t even know what to do in that game anymore. >.>

Hooray. As much as I love POE, the existing storage for microtransactions is, um……crap. But I had a chuckle at the “improved opening experience” for mystery boxes. POE’s certainly not the first to patch in something like that, but are there really players that think “All right! More sparkles for opening lockboxes! My life is now complete!”

Terrific improvements. Clean, straight forward, well designed.

Not going to lie, as a D3 player kinda jelly of that cosmetic system.

Is it just like Diablo where you’re mostly just working towards endless loot grinds with the occasional reset for goodies and challenges?

Yep, but unlike Diablo, the ladder resets have actual game play changing mechanics every time they put up a new one instead of, I don’t know, when did Diablo add something to their ladder resets?

Nope. Same ol’ boring seasons each season.

Yeah, I was bored of D3 ladder resets after my 2nd season. Whereas I try and play every season in PoE.

Nothing. They maybe throw in minor things here and there but it’s the same stuff on repeat every 3 months or so.

I did back in Alpha of the game. There were bits I liked, and a good deal of bits I extremely disliked. Ultimately it made me want to go play Diablo 3 more than anything, so I did. While they’ve changed some things I disliked, over all it’s the same game and not one I’m interested in.

Oh cool that is a welcome addition. I have certainly felt the pain of having to search through a rather large list of characters trying to find the various bits of cosmetic armour I have spread among them.

Like the changes they mentions regarding hideouts too and that may make me look into actually building one that is a little more fancy than just a blank room with crafting tables. Hideout templates coming later too YAY
