Blade & Soul improves items with its anniversary update

Things!
The anniversary update for Blade & Soul brings with it, well, an anniversary event. But it also brings a number of other system changes to the game to reduce the number of different bits you have to carry around in your inventory, improve drop rates, and generally make the game more rewarding to play. For example, players will now have nine different quests to choose between for daily challenges, but successful completion will still only require three quests. So you can pick and choose between the three daily challenges you want to complete.

The game is also streamlining Draken Legendary tokens to straightforward Draken Cores, introducing an alternate cost for Legendary Jewels and Legendary Elements, and reducing crafting costs across multiple guilds. The 3v3 matchmaking bracket for Tag Matches is also being changed to better reflect player skill. All in all, the stuff that you’re already doing in the game will become more straightforward, more rewarding, and more fun all around. Not a bad start to the year and another year of operation.

You know. It’s those days when I don’t get a chance to check in as much at I miss actual BnS conversations. LOL. Damn it!

Ok, so as Uta explained we have a clan, Epic MOP, on the Cerulean aka blue faction. All are welcome to join. We aren’t very big, but we will help each other with whatever is needed. All levels are welcome. And btw, you don’t need to be in the clan to get help. :)

If you are coming back, not too worry if you decided to start fresh. Things are much different now and you will cruise through levels with no gear grind, no required side quests, and good rewards. So if you wanted too, you could just play the main quests that is all.

As for classes? Your mileage will vary. I will say there is at least one class that will, most likely, fit your play style. Hit me up and I will tell you more than you want to know. Lol. I’ve played them all and have one of each class, almost all at 50 or better.

And that’s it. My main is Haliee. Friend me or send me a mail or message in game if you need anything or if you want to join our little clan.

BTW, good time to come back before the anniversary event on Jan. 17. Also the event content is not level dependent if you are above level 16 I think, so we can all run together. (Yeah, you will be level 16 in one session of play. Trust me.)

Remember: Haliee is the name. Yura is the server. Epic MOP is the clan name.

Sorry if I was being too forward in promoting your clan on your behalf. But the clan seems like a good starting point for those here who are interested. But if you want me to stop, I will. :)

Reader

Nope. You did exactly what you should have. The clan is open to all. :)

I have to get back into Blade and Soul, at least play through the story line.

Same. I was mad hype pre-launch but never got too far into it for a variety of reasons when it finally launched. I keep meaning to come back but other MMO projects continually end up sidelining B&S for “just a bit” again, and again, and again, and again. Trying to get better at that this year, especially since B&S is one of the MMO’s I’ve still never managed to dive too far into.

Gotta finish Tokyo in SWL then spend some time in ESO, but I B&S should be up high on the list of projects to work on next!

It’s really proven it’s worth too, new classes, new zones, and my friends who do play say it’s not a ghost town. BnS is going nowhere so I feel I need to give it a try.

Yeah, a few of the newer classes seem interesting. Just need to finish these projects, carve out a bit of time to do a minor info-dive to figure out what class I want to play (there were a bunch that are appealing!) and how I’ll approach this one.

Now to hope I’ll be able to peel my roommate away from WoW to give this a bit of a spin with me so that I have someone else to be a total scrub with : P

I’m having a blast with the Gunslinger. Really fits my playstyle. I’ve almost hit level 30 and I haven’t died once yet. Either the game is that easy for me or the class is OP.

Heh, that’s one of the lesser appealing ones to me despite it being pretty unique for the setting. Easy works for me though, I’ve become a madbad hypercasual who doesn’t really seek out challenge and gets much more enjoyment out just going through games mostly “for the experience”.

Right now vacillating between Soul Fighter (leaning towards this most), Force Master (what I briefly played when I first started), Summoner, or Warlock. So…most of the more caster oriented classes, despite the martial arts setting. Might do something like a Gunslinger or Assassin for a “just for silliness” alt, but that’ll be more than a bit off as I work on my main first.

Force Master can be pretty squishy, pretty fun though I think. Soul Fighter is a mishmash of FM and KFM. I haven’t played the Summoner (I hate pets in general so that is out) or Warlock past level 10. Assassin is pretty nice but pretty front loaded, it loses out on a sustained fight I find.

Yeah, the FM/KFM mix of Soul Fighter is why I’m leaning towards it since I still get the more castery stuff I’ve been gravitating to with this game but also mixing in some of the martial arts stuff. Any word on how they are in terms of leveling as a casual player etc.? Not looking for anything serious/hardcore, but just a class that will let me get through the leveling experience without too much trouble.

Soul Fighter levels pretty nicely. In general, the leveling is pretty casual up to when you complete the original story. After that the mobs become more challenging and you have to start thinking about gear and all of that jazz

Nice, I can dig it. That sounds good to me, by that point I should have learned at least a few things about the game (one would hope…) to allow me to continue to the post-OG story content without many issues. If not, there’s always the internet!

And all of this is now reminding me that I don’t have the B&S subreddit on my list of MMO reddits I keep an eye on. Guess I’ve gotta fix that!

Reader

Not to burst your bubble or anything but the Gunslinger is by far the easiest class to play

Reader
JonBuck

Thought so. It does feel OP, but it’s getting me through the story.

Content will get more difficult though. Be warned.

Gunner is a great class for leveling actually. My Gunner is my main now because of it. It eclipsed all my other toons. It was introduced in early October and now it is my highest leveled and geared toon. My previous main had at least a years head start and now it is way behind.

They are great fun in heroics. :)

And not to plug Mr. rafael’s Epic MOP social clan for those who visit this sight and want a home to start out with in B&S…but yeah, I am going too! All are welcome…*I think! <3

*Disclaimer: You need to be on the Blue Team to qualify. We're working on a Red Team version. Sorry about that folks…game mechanics still insists on it. :(

Blue team, that’s the faction you pick right after the tutorial? My memory of the game is quite hazy.

Also, does the clan have a name? Or did you write it and I just missed it because it’s late in the day and my mind is melty, but I’m always down for a friendly face or two and am notoriously bad at finding guilds : P

Reader

Yes it is. I think you get after reach your 2nd Dragon Point outside of Bamboo Village. Or at least when Brother Hajoon summons you for his first lesson. I think they’re named The Cerulean Order.

And yes, Epic MOP on Yura. Look for a Utakata Hanabi…I’ll try to get you hooked up with the right people. :)

Took the time out to make the character and sent the friend request, my character is Tialle. I’ll be on again…one of these days.

Game looks super pretty on my new monitor though, holy crap!

Reader

I’ll get that in the latter day as the game is now down-for-maintenance mode. :)

When ever you are ready to take the plunge, I’m pretty sure Uta and I will be there at this point. My main toons name is Haliee, just friend me and message me.

Re-downloaded the game yesterday (it had been on my to-do list for a while actually). I’ve got all these combat macros for my Assassin, Blademaster, and Warlock, and I’ve no idea what I’m doing anymore. So, my level 20 Gunslinger seemed the best bet to get reacquainted.

I’m on the proper server for you all, and even the right faction. Perhaps I should join the MOP clan…

Reader
rafael12104

Join or no, we will help you get back into it. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but will worth the price. Zero! Lol. And tons of fun.

Friend me. Haliee is the name. Level 20 Gunner is a good way to get your feet wet again, for sure.
