Betawatch: Fallout 76 will start testing at the end of October

The next few months, then.

Oh, Fallout 76, you have yet to release, but you give those of us on the reporting circuit a true bounty. For one thing, those of us who are reporting on betas (like this column) get to highlight that your testing is set for the end of October! That’s good. For another thing, those of us who enjoy pointing out inconsistencies can snicker a bit at the whole cross-platform play still not being planned even after the evil troll guarding that entrance was revealed to actually just be a surly dude with bad hair. It’s also probably good for people who like post-apocalyptic gaming, to be fair.

Other news has happened this week, though! Of course it has.

And below, you’ll enter our eternal list of games in testing. It’s eternal because the list is eternal, not because games are supposed to be on there eternally. If something shouldn’t be on there, please, do let us know down in the comments so we can trim that up.

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.
