EverQuest II previews the Planes of Air and Water in anticipation of tomorrow’s Chaos Descending launch

We’re only a day away from the release of EverQuest II’s 15th expansion, Chaos Descending, which will take players across the elemental planes of Norrath as they vie to restore balance to the universe. Daybreak Games has announced that the EQII servers will be going down tomorrow, November 13th, at 10:00 a.m. EST to deploy the expansion, which the devs estimate should take about five hours, with servers going back up around 3:00 p.m. EST.

We know that the last stretch before the release of a much-awaited expansion feels agonizingly long, but Daybreak has just the thing to tide players over: previews of the elemental Planes of Air and Water. Players will be flying high in the Plane of Air, where they’ll visit Eryslai, the Kingdom of Wind, where Xegony, Queen of Air, reigns over “creatures of flight and beings of air and light.”

They’ll also have to delve deep below into the Plane of Water, where they’ll venture into Awuidor, the Unresting Waters, “a sphere within the Plane of Water never before seen by Norrathian adventurers.” It won’t be a day at the beach, though, as players will have to contend with the myriad monstrosities that dwell in the depths, including “abyssal beholders, marids, sirens, and water elementals.”

Chaos Descending will go live tomorrow, but if you need a fix to keep you occupied while you wait on the expansion to launch, be sure to check out our recent EverQuest II 14th-anniversary retrospective and livestream.
