Gather eggs and earn goodies in RuneScape’s Easter event

It’s time for that most eggcellent spring holiday, Easter, and the world of RuneScape is celebrating with an eggcitingly eggstravagant in-game event. It involves eggs, in case you were wondering.

The so-called Guilded Eggstravaganza centers around a fabulous Eastertime fete being hosted in Lumbridge, and all the guilds of Gielinor have come to display their assorted seasonal wares, and it’s up to players to assist some of the guilds in creating some magnificent Easter-y creations. In doing so, they’ll help the Chef’s Guild bake a cake pie (which, of course, is heresy); aid the Fishing Guild in the creation of the “borderline inedible, questionably unethical” piscine equivalent of the turducken, the swordsharkuna; and assist the Crafting Guild in decorating “an elaborate ornate egg.”

On top of that, players will be able to hunt for elusive Guthix butterflies, which will reward their captors with a bunch of bonus XP. Players should also be on the lookout for easter eggs that have lain undiscovered for who knows how long, causing them to crystallize, giving them the potential to shatter the teeth of any unsuspecting rube who decides to try to take a bite. To prevent this, the easter bunny wants players to hunt them down and return them for de-crystallization, for which they’ll be handsome rewarded with “small [troves] of goodies.”

And the Easter celebration isn’t all about egg hunts and seasonal loot — Jagex is also taking the opportunity to put a little joy out into the real world. Players can donate bonds to NPCs representing the real-world charities CPSL Mind and The Prince’s Trust, who can be found hanging out in Lumbridge, and each bond will be translated into a IRL monetary donation to the charity. Each bond donated will also increase the rate at which the donor finds crystallized egg fragments, making it a wholesome win-win for everyone involved.

If you want to get in on the festivities and maybe even help make meatspace a better place in the process, RuneScape’s Easter event is going on now and will continue until the end of the month.
