Set sale for design issues.

Atlas’ second “mega update” is officially live, Wildcard and Grapeshot say, in conjunction with a big ol’ Steam sale that halves the cost of the game to $15. The studio conglom says Into the Ice represents “a massive content drop for the pirate survival MMO that cracks open the frosty doors of the new Polar Ice Dungeon and reveals the Abominable Snowman Boss Fight.”

“Players can start exploration on two new mission questlines, five new equatorial islands and discoverable areas, a crossbow and speargun weapons, a fishing net, two new tameable creatures, the ‘water carrier’ Olfund and the Giant ‘armoured personnel carrier’ Tortuga, new ship structures, cosmetics, and much more! The update also includes a ton of bug fixes, QOL, and new features for players and Companies.”

Explorers take note: One of the “quests” is actually an achievement to trek through 40% of the game’s discovery zones in exchange for the Master Cartographer title. Check out the launch video down below.

I didn’t even know this dumpster fire was still burning.

Imagine devoting all this time, money and effort only to end up with a tiny fraction of ARK’s average daily users while slowly bleeding off your other title’s users cause you won’t devote resources to the audience you do have.

Maybe this is a question for MJ – but do we know if Atlas is still committed to allowing private servers?

I’m very interested/fascinated by this title, but have zero interest in some sort of stupid competition with everyone and their brother. At 50% off, if they’re still openly talking about private servers, that seems a reasonable risk to make on the investment.

There are operating private servers, unless they got rid of them for some reason. I’ve only played on the official servers, but if I go back it will either be to PvE or private. The official PvP server is just big guilds wrecking everyones shit, mostly while you’re offline, and then bragging about destroy a solo players hut with their 50 player zerg.

I play on an unofficial and I’d recommend that to anyone interested in the game. You’ll even find some decent sized grids out there. The one I’m on is 7×7 and supports both PvP and PvE play.
