Starting today, a retro 16-bit theme is being slapped all over the game as players can become “Honorary Pixel Heroes” who rescue the princess and save the kingdom. There’s also a bonus giveaway event running for a few weeks, a revamp to the familiar system, and a pixel coin shop at which we mere three dimensional mortals can only window shop.
Nexon is also using this opportunity to welcome MapleStory 2 players, as they will be losing their home very shortly. “Through May 26, MapleStory 2 players are invited to participate in special quests and relays to earn rewards such as the new ‘Tria Traveler’ title, a 90-day Ducky Mount Coupon, Maple Welcome Damage Skin, and more,” the studio said.
