Warhammer Online’s rogue server, Return of Reckoning, has developed a reputation of being one of the most frequently updated emulators out there, which definitely helps with making this title feel as alive and vibrant as WAR was during its original run. So simply nod with respect as you see the November 11th patch notes scroll down your screen.
The patch makes fortresses a bit easier to take down (if certain conditions are met), boots AFK players from scenarios, and makes some adjustments to Chosen, Squig Herders, Engineers, and Magus. It also flagged Battlemarsh to be this weekend’s warfront.
The Return of Reckoning dev team sat down this past Friday to answer two hours’ worth of player questions:

I’ve been dabbling occasionally and find this server a ton of fun.
Enjoyed playing the original game. Tried this emulator a few months ago and there was a decent amount of other players around during peak hours. Personally, I play mainly during off hours and it was mostly dead at least in the starter areas where I was.
The problem I ran into was the events did not scale to a solo play. I found it annoying that I had to kill the full allotment of mobs that is designed for a large group / zerg to complete events. Now I could choose to not participate in the events but I felt I would be missing out on necessary leveling gear.
Otherwise everything seemed fine. I quit playing for another new game, but this could have been a different outcome if I felt more welcome.
You can get PvP gear in the warcamps, which is basically the best gear there is for every tear. PvE is almost never required, except in specific cases.
I followed your WAR blog for quite some time when you wrote it and have seen your journey here to MOP. Do you play this regularly? or through some spurts? I tried it about a year ago and the population was good, but I didnt stay for long. Your thoughts?
I haven’t yet played this — it’s on my list, perhaps for early next year!
