Guild Wars 2 on server performance: ‘We’re seeing more success’

If your Guild Wars 2 experience has seemed smoother and less fraught with performance issues as of late, that’s not your optimistic mind deluding itself. ArenaNet reported this week that it is finally witnessing progress with the backend work that’s been going on for a couple of months now.

“Back in October we let you know we were continuing to work on the gameplay performance issues,” the studio said. “While our initial changes didn’t have the impact we were hoping, we’re happy to report that we’re seeing more success with our ongoing work on server-side latency. We’ll be rolling out updates over the next few weeks and into the new year and will be monitoring their success.”

In other game news, the Guild Wars 2 Raiding League is hosting a “huge” raiding event on Sunday, sponsored by ArenaNet. If you never heard of this organization, it’s “a large scale community raiding monthly event aiming to offer a fair competition to everyone, as well as promote raids and its community. The league offers an open, easy to join monthly event for guilds and teams to compete against each other.” The fun begins about an hour after this post goes live, at 1 p.m. EST.
