MassivelyOP’s not-so-serious end-of-the-year awards begin today, now affectionately named the Golden Yachties in honor of that dumb meme about how games bloggers are sailing around on a golden yacht with all their blogging money. Which is really only funny if you know how little we make and also that a gold-plated yacht would sink immediately to the bottom of the sea!
So we’re kicking off our second year of Golden Yachties with our pick for most bizarre thing in an MMO this year. And the winner is…
SELF-CRISPING PIGS
OK, so the pig minipets that Lord of the Rings Online added as part of its anniversary gift package aren’t technically called self-crisping pigs. But I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a pig carrying a wagon of fireworks around in an MMORPG before. Or that it’s ever occurred to me as a thing to want. And I also can’t really say it’s a great idea. For the pig, that is.
