Growing up with MMORPGs, it’s only natural to get used to the often cluttered interfaces. The other night I was playing LOTRO and forced myself to see how much of the UI actually obscures the game world and action. It’s a lot more than I thought, although I do take pains to resize and reposition elements to make it less busy.
Of course, the trend with MMOs and other video games these days is to make the UI as unobtrusive and minimalistic as possible. World of Warcraft is working on a redesign of its user interface for Dragonflight, catching up with other MMOs that have already boasted such streamlined designs.
Looking at the games you’re playing, how cluttered or clean do you make your MMO interface? Do you use mods to help with this?
