The Daily Grind: Do MMOs send you into choice paralysis?

Sometimes it just makes sense.

Does it ever feel that despite having more entertainment options than we’ve ever had in the past, it’s incredibly hard to choose what to experience or do? If so, welcome to the club — the club of choice paralysis. Having more than a handful of attractive options at any given time may lock up one’s ability to make a decision.

Sometimes we experience that simply trying to pick a different MMO to play — seriously, there are just scads of them out there — and sometimes we feel choice paralysis within an MMO when we try to sort through the dozens of options for any given play session. Do you quest? Raid? PvP? Craft? Play house? Do dailies? Work on reputation grinds? Tailor a new outfit? Run dungeons? Roll a new character? Fully map out a zone? Catch up in the main storyline? Jump in circles and accomplish very little?

When’s the last time that you experienced decision paralysis in MMORPGs, and how did you deal with it? Is this something you encounter frequently, periodically, or not at all?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
