Final Fantasy XI plans a challenge event for the community in December as part of its patch

I'm sad!

To just look at the list breakdown of the content being added for Final Fantasy XI’s December patch – the last one of the year – you could be forgiven for feeling like there’s not much there. It’s just new Ambuscade content. But if you read the paragraphs above you’ll find out that there is indeed something to get more excited about, as December 12th will mark the start of a new collaborative event called Vana’Bout.

Producer Fujito explains that if players work together to take on the challenge, they’ll unlock a new campaign in January as well as rewards for individual players who take part. It certainly sounds like a fun reason to team up and challenge some interesting content (presumably). There are also real-life events being held in Japan that will sadly be less accessible for most of our readers, but at least you’ve got a new challenge to work toward! Other than the monthly Ambuscade rotation, we mean.
