Bungie is hoping that the dire state of its studio won’t stop Destiny 2 players from enjoying (and probably buying) some holiday cheer as this week has brought the Dawning event back online, running between now and Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024.
If you’ve played any event in the looter shooter before, you can guess what to expect: Eva Levante will be at the Tower to hand out tasks, an event card will be dished out with challenges to complete, and clearing activities and bounties will be required, with the Dawning focused on getting ingredients to bake cookies. It’s all in service of getting Dawning Spirit, which can be used to get bonus rewards, focused weapon drops, weapons with additional perks, and increased utility for Stasis snowballs. Speaking of weapons, this year brings a new Arc glaive as well as a new memento.
Of course, Bungie is likely also hoping that players will spend money on upgrading their event cards to access several additional seasonal cosmetics, buying festive cosmetics in the Eververse cash shop, and buying a beanie from the merch store – yes, the beanie that becomes available after players complete a specific seasonal challenge. We can’t possibly fathom why.
