While 2024 looks to be a fashionable year to end your expansion titles on a preposition, World of Warcraft: The War Within already kicked off its test cycle before the closing of 2023.

Wowhead reports that an encrypted build of Patch 11.0, The War Within, currently is running on Blizzard’s internal developer server. As the build is encrypted, fans have no recourse to datamine its contents. However, Wowhead estimated that The War Within could be launching between July and August next year if Blizzard roughly holds to the same testing timeline that it did for its previous two expansions.

The War Within will mark the start of World of Warcraft’s “Worldsoul Saga,” a three-expansion storyline that will play out over the next few years. This expansion is set to be followed by Midnight and The Last Titan.
