Final Fantasy XI previews its March update and the next Vana’Bout event

WRONG KIND OF SHINE

The Final Fantasy XI patch previews just hit different when the patch is just rotating Ambuscade objectives. Sure, it’s nice that this still happens on a monthly basis, but it does make the previews feel a bit thin. This month’s objectives will focus on Velkk and Treants, so if you were looking forward to a match against these enemy types, you are about to get your wish. What’s far more important in the larger scope of the game is the second round of the Vana’Bout event currently planned for May.

While the first round ran into some technical issues, the second round has adjusted where players can earn Plaudits as well as spreading out the objectives away from the usual Records of Eminence objectives so they’re hopefully clearer. Square-Enix’s goal is making the event another fun limited-time engagement for players, and it’s just a couple of months away. So while this month may feel a little more thin, there is hope in the future.
