Evercore Heroes, back from the dead, talks new game flow and the rationale for rebirth

Now that we know Evercore Heroes is returning from its competitive team vs. team PvE origin to a co-operative roguelike, there might be some people wondering how the game got to this point. If you’re the sort who is looking for that kind of briefing directly from Vela Games, then this dev blog is for you.

As one might expect, there’s not too much new here if you’ve been following our coverage, as the post talks about its original vision, admitting the game was “too complex for its own good” and not resonating with players (while also leaving out the fact that said beta was paid), and discussing its team downsizing and project reset to create the rejiggered title that it’s hoping to put forth into early access soon.

As for what the game actually looks like from start to finish, another dev blog paints a broad strokes picture of how gameplay flows, from loadout to character select all the way to finishing a level run, all while talking up the game’s co-op nature and the strategy of choosing the right upgrades.
