MapleStory adds a new class and a 19th anniversary zone, maps out future May and June updates

It’s time for MapleStory to mark 19 years of operation by opening Mayple Island. And no, that misspelling isn’t a twisting of the MMO’s own vernacular; it’s a reference to the month of May. Though there’s lots of Maple things happening at Mayple Island as it marks its Mapleversary, and now we think that’s enough made-up words.

Mayple Island will be the hub for the variety of 19th anniversary happenings like daily missions, XP boosting activities and features, a hunt for items to fill a Mayple Memoria album, and some celebatory minigames like a dance party and a race against other players. Rewards include a wide assortment of materials, currencies, cosmetics, and mounts.

While the anniversary zone is the star attraction of the update, another major addition is Lynn, a magician character who wields a staff, a shield, and the power of the forest to defeat foes and heal or buff players. The job effectively replaces the Beast Tamer class, so those who already have a Beast Tamer will log in to find themselves at the Lynn’s starting zone.

Mayple Island and Lynn are just the latest features scheduled for MapleStory’s May and June according to its latest roadmap. Future planned updates will include a remaster of the Angelic Buster class, a new epic dungeon, several new events, and quality-of-life additions that include character presets, a new boss UI, and the removal of certain boss entry limits. We note that none of these QoL improvements are ones that were brought up by a superfan of the MMO during a promoted stream, but ideally these are steps forward regardless.
