Kickstarted tiny MMO Book of Travels has launched its promised combat revamp

Doc. I wanna kill.

What is the best thing in Book of Travels? Is it to break your enemy, see him driven before you, and hear the lamentations of his allies? Or is it a nice bit of ham? Well, it turns out programming better scents and a more pleasing texture for ham within a video game is very difficult, but improving combat is much easier, and so the latest patch for the game has heavily revamped combat in every scene that requires it.

The game’s combat now has new animations, a new UI, new sound effects, and even a whole new tutorial. It does also mean that combat skills are in need of reworking and some non-human opponents are temporarily unavailable, but the goal is to provide a new foundation to make fighting things that much more satisfying. So it’s still a work in progress, but isn’t that always the way with this particular game?
