Today marks the beginning of the Age of Heroes in Conan Exiles, as the latest update looks to bring new life to some of the survivalbox’s NPCs with updates to the thralls hanging out in player settlements and all-new companion characters to adventure with.
One of the tentpole features of the update is new behaviors for thralls that aim to turn them into living and breathing characters instead of items on a base: Players will now need to consider the hunger, comfort, and exhaustion of their thralls, and some will flee from danger while others will fight when a settlement is under attack. Settlements are also getting upgrades like selectable crafting bonuses at all craft stations, barkeepers that can be found in prisoner cages, and crafters that can be rescued from Stygian Legion camps.
Another big feature is the addition of two fully-voiced AI companions in the form of Liu Fei the Khitan sorcerer and Freya the Aesir warrior. Both of these new characters have unique quest lines for players to take on in order to earn their loyalty as a permanent fighting pal, each with their own unique perks that unlock based on players’ actions during their stories.
Other updates made in the patch include the death of the battle pass, adjustments to HP pools for various NPC factions, updates to followers’ AI, and a healthy dose of bug fixing, among other features.
