Old School RuneScape is positively flush with information this week, with Jagex kicking out multiple dev blogs about what it’s got cooking across the immediate and distant future of the elder MMORPG. So without further ado, let’s break it all down.
We’ll start with what is arguably the bigger news story: a progress report on Project Zanaris aka the community servers feature unveiled during the Summer Summit. The post is the first of several monthly updates Jagex is promising about the feature on top of livestreams and Discord-specific previews.
The post grants a look at things like the central portal for community servers, various character parameters that server masters can set, and a wide assortment of world parameters that can be assigned such as removal of bank access, death penalties like XP loss and inventory loss, and gathering nodes not respawning after use. As is often the case, the preview ends with a poll for players to declare their interest in what’s shown off so far.
Next up is a second round of open beta testing for run energy tweaks that’s currently in progress. This dev blog deep-dives the updates from a numerical standpoint, offering formulae and graphs that detail energy regen and energy drain changes. It’s extremely nerdy is what we’re saying.
Finally, this week’s patch for the MMO includes some adjustments to the Halloween event, the new Varlamore quest, Ironman status, and the Arclight weapon. The newsletter also calls attention to another Jagex Game Jam starting on October 30th and a prop hunt event happening on the official Discord on October 27th.
