The studio behind 2-D pixel art multiplayer ARPG Drakantos noted previously that it would be scaling back its dev blogs to every three months. Well, we are past that point, but developer Wingeon Games has not been idle, as evidenced by its most recent post to Steam about its development.
The blog provides a look at some new customization features for the MMO’s various characters, which include unlockable and dyeable styles for their various skins. The game is planning to release with six such skins per hero, while dyes can be earned from gameplay and can even be traded among players.
Next up is a general overview of some updates including a final look at how players can tame animals as pets, some newly added bosses, some improvements to NPC dialogue, completion of some events in the coliseum, and the addition of new items and artifacts.
Finally of note is Wingeon’s focus on fleshing out open world content. The studio says that base mechanics for things like combat, guild missions, and bosses have gotten to a point where development can fully move to this portion of the MMO. Gameplay features already added include puzzles, chests, quests, resource gathering, and new tools like teleporters and a grappling hook. Much of what’s possible in Drakantos’ open world is showcased in the video below.
