EVE Online is getting a big jolt of content and activity today thanks to the release of the Revenant expansion, which – if Wikipedia’s list of major updates and expansions for the game is accurate – marks the 2003 sandbox MMORPG’s 50th major release. Yes, we know that EVE Online has gone through multiple phases of Doing Expansions and Not Doing Expansions over the years, so this is probably the best way to count.

Revenant includes the new Deathless ships meant for close-quarters engagement, deployable mercenary hideouts for nullsec, the new project management system for corporations, and the new customization systems that allow corps and alliances to design their own SKINS.

“CCP Games today launched EVE Online: Revenant , the newest expansion for the legendary sci-fi space MMO, EVE Online,” CCP Games says. “Intrepid Capsuleers can now enter New Eden and join the Immortals in combating the threat that looms over them. Build mercenary lairs in zero-security spaces to spawn encrypted Infomorphs, which can be used in trades with the Immortals to earn destructive ships with state-of-the-art weaponry. With Revenant , players can bolster group benefits with improved Corporation Projects and experiment with new SKINR patterns to emphasize individual creative expression and group identity.”
