Warframe developer Digital Extremes is continuing to stir the hype pot for its Warframe: 1999 update release as the studio’s final devstream of the year has upended another bucket of details full of information and nonsense words and names for things in-game. Y’all know how this goes by now, we think.
First off, the studio has confirmed that the Technocyte Coda feature of 1999, which lets players fight boss versions of the boy band On-lyne’s members, has to be delayed into sometime early next year. “We couldn’t get this new Technocyte Coda system implemented to our standards in time […] and felt it was best to invest developer time into must-ship items for the update,” the studio explains. “This feature was the “cleanest” part of the update to separate into another update.” As recompense, fans get… a song.
As for what is coming to the update’s December launch, that will include the new PvPvE Faceoff mode, which pits two teams of four to take various objectives while fighting waves of enemies and one another in a friendly competition; a bounty board that will offer missions that raise reputation with the new Hex syndicate; the romance system that will let players earn romantic favor (and smoochability) with members of the Hex syndicate; and Cyte-09, the game’s 59th Frame. There’s also a new enemy faction in the form of the Scaldra, whose leader is being voiced by Neil Newbon, who has voiced in Warframe before but is perhaps most well-known as the voice of Astarion in Baldur’s Gate III.
DE is promising to provide more details about Warframe: 1999 in other areas, namely during The Game Awards on December 12th, when the update’s launch date will be revealed, but for now there’s a full stream to watch below or an official synopsis to read.
